The Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Water Resources Agency says it has successfully incorporated artificial intelligence into its operations and personnel cultivation processes, describing its decision as a win for public services.

The agency launched a series of AI training programs in 2024 encompassing basic theories, applied technologies and practices. Nine sessions have been held to date in areas ranging from the use of generative AI to improve administrative efficiency to ways to conduct water resource data analysis with generative AI, it said, adding that more than 620 employees have participated in the programs.

The WRA also held an internal competition seeking creative proposals for applying AI to solve problems and streamline working processes, the agency said, adding that it created an AI-equipped work environment for staff members by purchasing necessary hardware as well as ChatGPT Team, a platform offered by U.S.-based OpenAI to give businesses access to their models.

Staff from the agency use AI tools widely in their daily work, including compiling meeting records, transcribing speech, preparing presentations and translation, the WRA said. The agency is further expanding the scale of AI talent cultivation by integrating relevant courses into occupational training projects for water resource personnel, and pledges to apply more AI technologies to related management to advance the country’s sustainable development.
